Norristown Youth Development Coalition
The Norristown Youth Development Coalition (NYDC) is a collaborative and partnership of Norristown human service agencies and other organizations that provide direct and indirect services to youth. NYDC is funded by a William Penn Foundation planning grant to engage in a community-based planning process to identify the gaps in services to Norristown youth between the ages of 12-18, by assessing the needs of Norristown’s youth, identifying what providers in our community currently do, what services they would like to provide, and what barriers stand in the way. The assessment process is part of the overall strategic planning that has the ultimate aim of putting in place a mechanism for coordinated and collaborative responses to the developmental needs of the youth in Norristown. NYDC is the home for the Chosen Ones, a group of youth who meet weekly at the library to build leadership and develop their own ways to make the community a better place.
