Responding to Older Adults and Elderly
Victimization, Exploitation and Abuse
According to a 2000 report from the US Department of Health and Human
Services; 2 million older adults and elderly persons reported being victims of a
crime, exploitation or abuse. This informative panel presentation will increase
awareness on the spectrum of victimization, abuse, and exploitation of this
vulnerable population; educate participants on civil law statutes and the role that the Montgomery
County Aging and Adult Services Offices, Older Adult Protective Division serves; how the Montgomery
County District Attorney's Office responds to elder victimization/abuse and coordination of
community resources designed to serve victims.
