Administers several programs to assist eligible residents of Montgomery County in need. Applications can be mailed or issued to walk-ins on a first come, first served basis, or by applying on-line using the COMPASS web site at www.state.pa.us, Click on the Living in PA link and go to PA Social Service Programs. Walk-in clients will be seen the same day by an Intake Interviewer. Request or pick up an application from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Programs available include:                                                  

            n Cash Assistance

            n Food Stamps      

            n Low Income Heating Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)         610-272-1752

Helps residents pay for heating sources for their homes during winter months only (approximately October through March/April).

            n Medical Assistance

Upon enrollment, recipients will choose one of the following three health insurance companies:

AmeriChoice

Health Partners, Inc.

Keystone-Mercy Health Plan                                                                   

            n Employment and Training                                                                   610-270-1916   

Participation with job search assistance or education and training upgrades may be mandatory or voluntary. Support services will be made available.
