Community Housing Services
CHS services range from helping homeless people in obtaining emergency shelter to helping formerly homeless people become homeowners. Women and children who are victims of domestic violence compose a large percent of the people who seek the services of the agency. These services include transitional housing and other support to help the families become independent of their abusers and move into affordable long-term housing. Self-sufficiency services and long term housing assistance are also provided to other eligible families whose heads of households are willing to adhere to the program's requirements. In addition, CHS provides subsidized housing facilities for low-income people and owns a transitional housing facility for homeless single males. Home ownership opportunities are sometimes available to low and moderate income people through lease purchase arrangements.
