Since 1981 the Interagency Council of Norristown, Inc. has been a consortium of human service organizations and individuals whose primary focus is to improve the delivery of and access to human services within the central Montgomery County area.  We believe through the personal contact of human service workers and the free exchange of information those in need are better served.
Until the fall of 1998, a volunteer board of directors had accomplished all of ICN’s programs and work.  In 1998, ICN was recognized as a 501(c)(3) private not-for-profit organization and received funding for a part time coordinator. Two working committees assist the board of directors and the coordinator in accomplishing its goals.  These committees are the Financial and Fundraising Committee, the Program and Professional Development Committee and the Community Education Committee.

ICN is celebrating over 25 years as a health and human service consortium.  Over the years our staple service has been our monthly information and networking meetings.  As we have grown and developed we have added monthly informational newsletters, professional development workshops, school district in-services, the publication of a regional resource guidebook and pamphlet, and involvement in the planning and implementation of social service and community fairs.

Other ICN activities include representing members in regional and county-wide forums, such as the Norristown Area Communities That Care for Youth and Montgomery County Housing Coalition

For over twenty five years ICN has been providing the capacity building infrastructure behind the scenes that helps local human services furnish their essential services. We convene providers to share information, provide training, and offer networking opportunities. We also act as a link on collaborative boards and networks and support public awareness of the human service issues that will improve the quality of life for those who live in central Montgomery County. Our goal is to support local human service agencies in providing the best services possible.
